I will be graduating high school this May. What is the best way to get a forestry internship with no experience?
I will pursue an Associate's Degree in Forestry Technology at the local community college this Fall.
I have applied for a local AmeriCorps summer program.
I work part-time at an electronics recycling company.
I enjoy rock climbing, camping, and backpacking.

Hi Talus,
It sounds like you are doing all the right things! AmeriCorps is a great place to look into! Like Americorps, The Student Conservation Association is another good one to look into- https://thesca.org/
You could look at being a camp counselor for a summer camp that involves camping, rock climbing, and hiking.
Another good place to look is the conservation job board
https://www.conservationjobboard.com/search/state=6&type=3-5-6-4/1
Look into volunteering or working at some State or National parks near you.
This is a hard field to get into (not a lot of jobs) and what helps is connections! Volunteering is a great way to make connections. Be sure in the fall to talk to your professors and your campuses career services about part-time jobs, internships or volunteering.
I hope this helps!
