Caroline’s Answer

People's brains are designed differently. There are multiple intelligences and personalities, hence people get different perceptions about reality. Another possibility is the environment. The places and people we live with affect the way we look at reality.

Michael’s Answer

Perception....,. All people see things differently just depends on their influences. We are given our own mind and the farther we move away from the original influences of childhood, neighborhood, friends or even schools we went to the more are minds see and perceive things different. Even the college you choose in a certain part of the country will influencence those perception. Believe it or not your Religious beliefs can influence your perceptions of things. My suggestion is keep an open mind think for yourself and be a leader not a follower. Discuss ideas rationally and calmly and think on your ideas a while before jumping to conclusions.

Ira Preston’s Answer

People view reality differently for a number of reasons. First of all, you are unique. No one experiences the world exactly the same way you do. There are two factors at work: biology and experience, a dichotomy that is often summed up as "nature vs. nurture." What happens inside your body is unique to you. Even if you have a twin brother, his personal biology will not be the same as yours. I have twin brothers who grew up together -- eating the same food, breathing the same air -- and they have been individuals since the moment they were born. By the time they became adults, my brothers even developed different medical conditions. That is the biology or nature part. As my brothers grew up, they read different books and had different teachers. Eventually, one became interested in electronics while the other was fascinated with chemistry. The first brother joined the Air Force where he learned to fix radios, while his twin went to college and became a chemist. That is the experience or nurture part. Just as the inside of your body -- especially your brain -- shapes how you view reality, the books you read and the words of your teachers will influence that view as well.
