What is the process of becoming a wildlife veterinarian who is specifically focused on conservation and rehabilitation?
I am trying to decide between becoming a wildlife biologist or a wildlife veterinarian, so I would love to know what the process is like to become a veterinarian and if I can combine aspects of both potential jobs in my future career. #Spring25

Consider taking an internship or a part-time assistant role at a veterinary clinic to gain hands-on experience with animals. This will also allow you to learn from veterinarians who can become valuable mentors.
Select a veterinary school that interests you and review their application guidelines carefully. In your application, highlight your experiences at the clinic and any other animal care activities you've participated in. This will improve your chances of being accepted. During your clinical years, seek out lecturers who are passionate about wildlife care and conservation for further guidance. Working at a zoo can also provide valuable experience in this area.
