Is it better to study with a group of people, or by yourself?

I am stressed about maintaining my good grades that I've had throughout high school in college and am looking for advice.

I highly recommend a group of people, especially early in college. Networking is a big benefit of the school environment, and practicing that skill is a lesson in itself. Also be open to trying or forming a few study groups until you find the balance that works for you. Don't over-commit your time, but with clear boundaries and expressing what you want from a study group you'll create a support structure to stay engaged.

Think about how you like to learn, the subject you're studying, the timing, and how well you know the topic.

1. Personality - Consider how you study best. What's your learning style?
2. Subject - Memorizing might help in some cases. If you're preparing for public speaking, practice with someone who can give you feedback or ask tough questions. Also, think about the type of test you're preparing for, like multiple choice or using a program like Excel.
3. Timing - Group study can take longer, so decide if you have enough time for it.
4. Proficiency with the subject - If you're already good at the subject, you might not see the need for extra study. But your friends might need your help. If you're not as strong in the subject, studying with others can be a great chance to learn and solve problems together.
