Kristi’s Answer

Always stay true to yourself and honor your choices and beliefs. In the field of law, it's smart to pick a path that aligns with your values. For instance, if criminal law feels challenging to your beliefs, consider other areas where you feel more comfortable. Your decision to ask questions shows you have a good sense of direction. I commend you for that. You will do well, no matter what you decide. Wishing you all the best!

Evan’s Answer

Hi Sarah,

As a practicing lawyer who places enormous value on character and integrity, I would suggest that you can follow these principles:

1. Commit to Ethical Practice: Emphasize integrity and ethics in your legal practice.

2. Engage in Community Service: Participate in volunteer activities and pro bono work where you can use your legal skills and knowledge to support people with fewer resources.

3. Recognize Law as a Calling: Understand that the practice of law can allow you to use your talents to glorify God by serving others and embracinh humility.

4. Strive for Excellence and Innovation: Aim to inspire the legal profession by being a great professional and thinking of innovative ways to deliver client-centered legal services. This approach can help you make a beneficial impact on society.

Best of luck with your future career!

DENNIS’s Answer

Hi Sarah:
I hate to be the one to tell you this but... the two do not mix! There is a seperation of Church and state in our founding documents for a reason. Give unto to Ceaser what is Ceaser's and give unto the Lord what is the Lord's.
Law MUST be practiced in an even handed method without regard to religion. The law is the law to protect all citizens without concern for their religious beliefs. Should a person who hurts someone who they claim was violating God's law be allowed to get away with it because they claim it was in God's name? Should the people who flew the planes into the World Trade Center be forgiven because they did it in Allah's name?
You can not mix law and God. Sarah, wanting to fight injustice is a nobel calling. However, choose your path carefully. As a minister you get to fight it from the pulpit. In poor houses, in neighborhoods. As a lawyer you get to fight it in the Courtroom - but on different terms.
Good luck. Choose your path carefully and be true to yourself when choosing!
