Remember, sharing your values can be done in several ways, such as:
- Writing
- Speaking
- Using body language
- Listening carefully
It's important to truly listen to your employees if you say you value their feedback. This is a common challenge in management today. Your body language, including your facial expressions and posture, also plays a big role in showing what you believe in.
Both written and spoken words reveal a lot about your values. It's crucial to "walk the walk and talk the talk," meaning you should act on what you say in your daily life. People can easily tell if you're not being genuine.
I used to hold daily meetings with my management team and monthly meetings with all staff. We would review key goals, targets, and safety, and discuss their concerns and feedback. Listening to their feedback was most important. By addressing top challenges, involving staff in finding solutions, sharing results, and celebrating successes, you can make a big positive impact on your team.

This is such a great question. Modeling and communicating your values is so important. One of the first steps I would suggest is to be clear on what your values are. Brene Brown has a really great values exercise that allows you to go through a list of values and circle the ones that are most important to you. I found the process of going through the exercise was eye opening to me as it really forces you to think through what is most important to you.
Once you are clear on your own values, you can model it through everyday actions. For example, if trust is one of your values, you should work to build and earn trust with others. You can also suggest sharing one's values with your co-workers so you don't have to guess. It is a great team building exercise. Another way of doing it would be to share stories or articles that are inline with your values. You could look for stories on the internet or within your community.

Walking the talk is the best way to let others see. Its not enough to just "preach" about it but seeing you in action I think is the best way to get your message across your peers.

At the start of each year, I typically develop a sales plan that outlines what we are going to do and why we are doing it. This is a great opportunity to share a vision and mission statement which will help align everybody’s goals to the values that we are chasing.
It is then necessary to make sure those values are at the center of most things that we do during the year. Gentle reminders go a long way.
