Hi! It's so great that you're looking into this at your age! Remember, everyone starts somewhere!

As a high schooler, you should take any classes your school offers in business and also look for leadership positions in clubs that interest you. Those types of positions, where you manage other students, create and execute strategic events, and stick to a budget help build long-term skills that will help down the line. Any summer job will be helpful--it's about learning to work in a workplace!

As you look into higher education, look for schools with business programs. Business is a huge area--think about what you'd like to do inside of management. Are you interested in finance? Marketing? HR? Don't stress about it at all (you have so much time!), but keep an open mind and say yes to trying out new opportunities that come your way. It's so incredible that you're thinking of your future. Best of luck!

Maggie recommends the following next steps:

Join a club and work towards a leadership position

Hi Adrienne. You may try to take any business-related classes your school offers, such as economics or accounting. These can help you learn basic business ideas and show colleges that you're interested in this field. You should also consider joining school clubs that focus on leadership, teamwork, or real-world business challenges.

You can also look for new internships or volunteer jobs where you help with things like organizing events, creating social media posts, or assisting in a local business. Even helping a small business with simple tasks is great experience. If you can't find an internship, think about starting a small project, like selling something online, managing a school fundraiser, or helping with a family business.

Another helpful step is taking free online courses in business or leadership. Websites like Coursera or edX offer beginner classes in business management, marketing, and entrepreneurship.

2. Leadership skills: motivating and moving a team towards the stated goal.
3. Problem solving: identifying challenges and brainstorming ideas
