Hello, Latifah !
I would be happy to explain the business of being a model so that you can be well informed before learning more about it. One does not "join". Modeling is a serious career that requires lots of training, life experience and social experience. You also need to know how the business is run and you DO NOT use social media on line for modeling nor do you invest in modeling before you know how to model and are familiar with everything about the industry.
I'll advise according to if you are already 18 years old. If you are 18 or older, you can do this career on your own, but if you are not 18 or older, one of your parents will have to pay for and be with you for your training and the projects that you work on and that could mean missing lots of time from school. Modeling is a serious, disciplined, competitive and opinionated field in which you will be evaluated on your looks and ability to take direction and work with photographers and other professionals in the business. Your very first step is training. Remember: since modeling is a huge collaborative work, you will not be able to teach yourself. You have to work with many other professionals.
You will need to find a Modeling School to attend. This means in person, on site, not online. You will need a year to two years training as a beginner. Keep in mind that just applying to a modeling school doesn't automatically get you accepted, so find a few Modeling Schools and start applying. Modeling school costs money, too, so you'll have that as an expense at first. Your Modeling Instructors at the school will teach you how to start your career.
Right now, the impression you have about modeling is that it is glamorous, fun and great. It can be, but there's a lot more to it. You may have formed your impression by looking at the finished product, a beautiful magazine fashion spread or a cool lipstick commercial, but a lot of hard work went into that finished product. You need the training in order to be versatile and able to know how to work on projects for runway, print, television, film, commercials or any other type of modeling.
STAY AWAY from Instagram, Facebook or any other social media to promote yourself as a Model. This is very important. Keep your social media accounts for casual personal use, but NOT for modeling. It's not done that way and can cause problems, issues that many models have had. Do not put your identity as a model on social media. Eventually, if you get to professional level, your modeling Agent will maybe post your photo on his or her Modeling Agency Website, but do not use social media for modeling. Frankly, it's very unprofessional as well and can bring about trouble. Many models have already experienced that, so let your modeling instructors at modeling school guide you for the correct path.
Take it a step at a time. To start this career without training will be met with disappointment, confusion and being at a standstill. This career also requires enormous amounts of networking, attending events and parties, so you will be aware of how to network if you go to modeling school.
I hope this helps for a start. Make those initial contacts at the modeling schools for training and that will show you how to do this career. You will need enormous amounts of insight to be a model and it only comes from the training and experience. Best wishes in all you do !

There are many ways to start, even if you don't have support right now. You don't need to wait for someone to push you, you can begin taking small steps on your own. First, you need to learn about the fashion and modeling industry. Watch interviews with models, learn about different types of modeling (like runway, commercial, fitness, etc.), and see where you might fit best. Every model has a unique look, and there's space for all kinds of beauty.
Next, start building confidence and practicing. Take photos of yourself, study poses, and practice in front of a mirror.
Then, look for local opportunities. Search for open casting calls, local modeling agencies, or even student photographers and designers who need models to practice with. Be careful and make sure opportunities are safe and real.
Also, create a social media profile (like Instagram) where you share your style, outfits, and photos. Tag fashion brands or use popular hashtags. Many people have been discovered online just by sharing their passion.
