Hello, Jonathan !
Your undergraduate degree would not "gain" you a job. It will be a stepping stone to Medical School. You have to first take a foundational path for your career and then take the advanced required academic path. The important thing is to be qualified and for becoming a Psychiatrist, it's a basic path. A Bachelors in Neuroscience is not the correct Bachelors Degree for a future in Psychiatry. You need a strong Psychology base for your undergraduate degree and then will learn neuroscience in Medical School. You can also take Neuroscience as a single course in college. Your academic path prepares you for all the steps you'll need to take, it doesn't mean you'd be guaranteed a position. That will come during your residency and by applying for various positions many years from now.
Since the academic path for this career in Texas will take 12 to 15 years of school, you will need to know exactly what the academic path is about and what the career entails and the process of how new Psychiatrists obtain work. The best thing to do right now would be to have a long and detailed discussion about it with your high school guidance counselor. Once your learn what is expected, you can determine if you are sure you want to dedicate yourself to the academics and Medical School and the work within the career. Your Bachelors Degree is for giving you the knowledge of human behavior and how the brain works. Medical School will teach you how to be a doctor and specialist in Psychiatry. Nothing you take for your Bachelors Degree is for the purpose of obtaining a job as a Psychiatrist - it's for the purpose of giving you the basic knowledge to continue to Medical School and for your specialty later on.
So, concentrate on a path for Psychology for your Bachelors degree, visit your Guidance Counselor for a discussion and explore more online and through books about what Psychiatrists do. This way you can take things step by step and focus on each step one at a time.
Best wishes in all you do !
