It’s normal to wonder if you’ll understand everything at first... no one starts a job already knowing it all. Most learning happens through training, mentorship, and hands-on experience once you’re actually in the role. In OT, you’re taught frameworks and strategies in school, and then you build confidence by practicing and observing and collaborating with experienced therapists. Helping kids becomes clearer as you learn to look at their daily activities, strengths, and challenges and figure out what skills will make life easier for them. Trust yourself and do not be afraid to ask questions often, we are all learning every day! Even the most seasoned therapist learns something new from others! Good luck :)

Dear Emma,

Thanks for your question .

There is no job for which can be fully prepared, or know how to do many things . We can surely prepare by looking at various books or articles , or opinions from people who worked in that field.

I would say , if you know anyone who works in that field , then you should discuss with them , have a coffee together to know how is it that they do things, and what their day is like at job . Maybe they can even suggest some free online training as well.

Hope this helps !

Thanks and Regards,
Jerin
