How can I become successful with a future in creative writing when literature doesn't hold the value it used to?

With AI on the rise and a higher dislike for reading, I don't know if this dream major of mine should be changed even with a backup plan in mind.

Tom’s Answer

You do what you have to in order to do what you want. No author in history has ever gone through life thinking that they could write without compromise, and any who say so are telling a bit of a tall tale. Keep your love and passion for writing and practice it as much as possible to keep it as up to date as you can. But always remember that having a varied skill set is better than focusing intently on one direction and nothing else. In other words, keep writing, but explore other avenues to keep yourself secure.
