Hi Chaya. As a lecturer teaching Business & Management at degree level, students often ask me how easy it is to get a job right after college. The truth is that the degree gives you a strong foundation, but your job prospects depend on more than just graduating. Employers look for students who have taken internships, joined projects, gained experience, and shown motivation. The degree opens many doors, but you still have to step through them by building skills and confidence.
In general, Business & Management graduates do quite well in the job market. The field is broad, practical, and relevant to almost every industry. Companies need people who understand how organisations work, how teams function, and how decisions are made. Because of this, business graduates are often seen as adaptable and ready to learn.
Many students also ask whether this is a smart degree choice. I believe it is, especially if you enjoy working with people, solving problems, and understanding how businesses operate. The degree is flexible. You are not locked into one career path or industry. You can work in business, charities, government, start-ups, or even start your own business. The skills you learn (like leadership, teamwork, planning, marketing, strategy) are useful in almost every workplace.
You can also continue your studies with an MBA or other professional qualifications. This makes the degree a good long-term investment.
When it comes to careers, Business & Management graduates have many options. Common roles include marketing assistant, business analyst, project support officer, HR coordinator, sales executive, operations assistant, or customer account manager. Some graduates go into consulting, supply chain management, or entrepreneurship. Others join graduate management programmes, which are designed to help new graduates grow quickly into leadership roles.
