How often should I be studying for test?
I am a senior at Las Cruces High School. I am also going to be a college gymnastics but right now I do club gymnastics with my best friends. I later plan to be a manager of some kind for a big business. I also play to have a lot of house and rent them out to people.

This is a great question, and something that everybody handles differently.
The easy and simple answer is: you should study for however long it takes for you to understand and feel comfortable with the material, and to be able get the work done well and timely.
But I know that's easier said than done, and this is where finding studying and TIME MANAGEMENT strategies come in. Different strategies work better for different people, and it's important that you find those that work best for you, especially since gymnastics is also a priority for you.
Some suggestions are:
-Keeping a planner that lists out all of your commitments over a period of time, both school/work related and social. Color coding really helps here, as you can prioritize what needs to be focused on first, and what is due when. The big calendars that show entire weeks at a time are helpful.
-Studying in small chunks instead of cramming it in all at once. The brain digests information better in small chunks, and if you do a little bit every day, in smaller increments, it can have better long term effects.
-Be efficient and minimize distractions when it comes to study time. Put your phone away unless you need it for active studying.
-Write things out or speak them out loud. Your brain is more apt to remember when you do these techniques, instead of just reading information over.

Hi Rylie! A great studying tip is to set aside a little time each day to review and recall what you’ve already learned. This helps reinforce your memory and makes it easier to build on that knowledge later. I like to do daily Reviews: where I spend 10-15 minutes each day going over notes or key concepts from previous lessons. This keeps information fresh and reduces the need for last-minute cramming. Daily Maintencnce (15-30 mins/class) on the days you have a class, spend 15 minutes that same evening reviewing the notes your took. This helps you to retain the information.
Ramping Up: Day 7-5 Organize materials , make flashcards/study guides. Day 4-2 Active practice (practice problems, quizzing yourself) Day 1 Light review of the materials, get a good night's rest.
