Hello, Liam !

You can make a stronger connection to your physics department at school and ask them about Stanford's Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship which is for students who have completed at least two semesters or three quarters of their undergraduate education and have at least one full semester remaining. You'll need to have some knowledge of the subject for an internship which is usually done in the Junior and Senior year at college.

Stanford University offers various internship opportunities for undergraduate STEM students so ask your professor about it so you can obtain accurate and up to date information. If you're not yet qualified for an internship, seek volunteer work at laboratories, Defense contractors, telecommunications companies, energy firms, and government agencies.

You will need experience and knowledge to actually work in this field, so seek out volunteer work for a basic introduction and then when you can do the work in your Junior and Senior year, ask your professors about Internships. For right now, focus on doing Lab work and projects for your physics courses.
