Hi Lily. To make our future better, it's important that we learn how to listen carefully and communicate well with people who have different opinions.
The first step to listening better is to really pay attention when someone is speaking. This means focusing on them and not thinking about your response while they're talking. Often, when we hear something we disagree with, it's easy to stop listening and start planning what to say next. But true listening means taking the time to understand the other person's point of view, even if we don't agree. One way to show you're listening is to repeat what the person has said in your own words. This helps make sure you understand and shows the other person you care about their opinion.
Along with listening, communicating in a respectful way is also important. When talking to someone who disagrees with us, we should avoid attacking or blaming them. Instead of saying "You're wrong," try saying "I see it differently because…" This way, the conversation stays friendly and open. The goal is not to "win" the argument but to understand each other better.
It's also important to remember that having different opinions isn't a bad thing. In fact, it can be helpful. When we talk with others who think differently, we have a chance to learn new things and find common ground. By listening carefully and communicating respectfully, we can work together to find solutions that help everyone.
