Any tips for entering the Spartan atmosphere?

I'm transfering to MSU in the spring and becoming a Hospitality Business major, just looking for some advice! Go Green!

Congrats, Angela, on joining the MSU community. Hospitality business has such a great reputation. I retired from a wonderful career as an MSU faculty member of the College of Human Medicine and lived a close walk from campus. (I now live up North but have a lot of fond memories).

I would suggest you live on campus if you can, so you can feel more part of the community from the beginning. Try to strike up conversations with as many people as possible -- classmates, people in line you're standing near, etc. Although starting spring term is a bit tricky, try to find a club which appeals to you -- could be a sport or maybe something related to your career path-- which will help you find your people. The size of the university can be overwhelming but just like big cities have their smaller neighborhoods, so do big universities. Try to take advantage of all that's offered on the campus: go to Wharton Center (check for student tickets), check out the planetarium, the horticultural gardens, the dairy store, campus music and theater events, etc. Every weekend, do something new on campus -- take photos of the beautiful Spring flowers and blooming trees. I hope it's a wonderful experience for you!
