What have you done in college to help you get started on making progress for your future career?
One thing I really regret about the college process as a high school senior is the fact that I started it so late this last summer. Although I found my way around with help and effort, it would have been helpful to know certain tips earlier. That’s why I am planning to be on top of things during college so I can go straight into a career afterwards. For those who didn’t do anything in college to prepare, what do you wish you would have done differently?

Networking is also very important. Meeting professors, classmates, and professionals in your field can lead to internships, jobs, and advice for your career. You may go to events at your college's career center, join student organizations, and connect with alumni online. You can also do informational interviews, where you ask someone about their job and career path. Good questions include what skills are most important, what challenges they faced, and what advice they have for someone just starting out. Over time, these connections can guide you and even help you find job opportunities later.
Gaining experience is just as important as networking. Internships, part-time jobs, volunteering, or research projects give you real skills and show you what working in your field is like. Even small jobs can teach responsibility, teamwork, and time management.
Starting early and staying consistent will help you make the most of your college years and feel prepared for the future. All the best.
