What is the best job for me to get over the summer to make as much money as possible before college?

I love working with people, pets, and kids and I have experience with pets and kids but no official licenses other than CPR ;-;

Any recommendations?

Hi Calista,

When I was in school, I also focused on making money when I wasn't in class. If your main goal is to earn money rather than gain specific experience, there are several options. Pay varies based on the skills and experience needed for each job. Look for places open to short-term hires, although this might limit how much you can earn since some employers prefer long-term employees. Hourly jobs are a great choice because you can earn overtime, which helps maximize your income quickly.

Consider jobs at places with 24/7 operations or constant activity, where you can start working fast with little training. Options include being an Amazon driver, working in retail, lifeguarding (if you have CPR certification), swim instructing (especially private lessons for more pay), ride-sharing or delivering with Lyft or DoorDash, event staffing for concerts, or nannying.

Start spreading the word that you're looking for work. People can't offer you jobs if they don't know you're available. Use your network—talk to parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and family friends. The sooner you tell everyone you're looking, the better.

Good luck!

Become a lifeguard.
Contact the local veteranarian office to offer help to them. They want to promote the industry, so this is a way to connect with them, and they will pay.
Pet sitting is a great opportunity to spend time with pets if you live in neighborhood with a lot of dogs. You have to be careful to make sure it is worthwhile.
If you have a unionized grocery chain, work there because they have spots for vacation coverage. Can possibly work over 40 hours per week. Costco, Walmart, Kroger brands.
Can lead to something better - long term career with that company.
