Hi Rhys,

The main difference is the parts of the body each professional works on. For example, Physical Therapist work more with larger muscle groups and Occupational Therapists work with smaller muscle groups. To put it a different way Physical Therapists work more with injuries that affects someone's ability to walk whereas an occupational therapist works with activities of daily living like tying one's shoes, climbing stairs, getting out of seats and cars. They both work in similar environments with people who have sustained an injury through accident, illness, stroke, and aging. Both do great work and have similar academic requirements to be admitted. Right now, to be a physical therapist, requires a doctorate but it look like occupational therapy will soon require a doctorate.Try to take as many biology, anatomy, chemistry, physics and psychology classes as possible.

Good Luck!

Natalie
