Greetings! I’m planning to self-study for the MCAT from Nigeria and would appreciate any guidance.

I’m currently an undergraduate physiology student in Nigeria planning to apply to U.S. medical schools. I intend to start preparing for the MCAT early to position myself competitively.
Since I’ll be self-studying, I would really appreciate guidance from those who have successfully taken the MCAT and gone through the U.S. admissions process.
Specifically:
What core study materials would you recommend?
What strategies were most effective for you?
Any common mistakes to avoid during preparation or the application process?
Thank you in advance for your insights.

Hi Testimony. It has been a long time since I took the MCAT so the best advice I can offer now -- which I stress with those I mentor, is to spend time carefully reading the AAMC website which gives a lot of MCAT study advice.

This includes how to create an MCAT study plan:

Good luck -- sending you best wishes on your goal.
