What types of jobs can I do in the Marine Corps ?

My name is Ryan. I am a 7th grade boy at Crane Middle School. I have family that served in the army and marines. I want to know what career options they have. Thank you.

I was an infantryman, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Operator, and now pilot in the army. Let me know if you want to do any of those.

Hi Ryan, thank you for your question. It’s really cool that you already have family members who served in the Army and Marines and that you’re thinking about your future in 7th grade.

The Marine Corps has many different jobs besides just fighting. There are over 300 career fields called Military Occupational Specialties (MOS). Some examples include:

• Infantry – ground combat and field operations
• Aviation – working with helicopters and airplanes
• Mechanics – fixing vehicles and equipment
• Intelligence – gathering and analyzing information
• Cyber and computer jobs – protecting technology and networks
• Military Police and Corrections – law enforcement and security work
• Engineering – building structures and solving technical problems
• Medical support jobs – helping with healthcare and assisting medical teams
• Communications – radios, computers, and technology systems
• Logistics – moving supplies, equipment, and people where they need to go

Since you mentioned that you like learning and have family members who served, keep exploring things that interest you. If you enjoy working with tools, fixing things, or technology, some Marine jobs could fit those skills very well.

Right now, focus on doing well in school, staying active, and trying new hobbies because Marines need people who are smart, responsible, and willing to learn.

The cool thing about the modern military is there are jobs for almost every interest. If you want to do grunt stuff like I started out with, easy. Want to learn a trade? They have tons of them. Mechanic, heavy equipment operator, the Army even has water purification specialties. Depending on what interests you as you get closer to 18 can really drive your options.
