Hi Alonso! So the corporate world can be a pretty solid path. It's basically working for larger companies in offices where you'll deal with things like meetings, emails, projects, and teamwork across different departments. The expectations are usually around being professional, hitting deadlines, communicating well, and being a team player. Depending on what area you go into (finance, marketing, HR, operations, etc.), your day-to-day will look different, but honestly a lot of it comes down to problem-solving and building relationships with coworkers and clients. The perks can be great like steady paychecks, benefits, growth opportunities, and structure, but the real talk is that it can also feel repetitive or political at times, and you'll definitely need patience working your way up. My biggest advice is to figure out which part of the corporate world excites you most, get internships while you're still in school to test the waters, and don't be afraid to ask questions and network because who you know matters just as much as what you know in that space. I hope this helps!

Olivia’s Answer

Hi Alonso,

Working in the corporate world usually means working for companies in areas like business, marketing, finance, or technology. A lot of corporate jobs involve teamwork, meetings, solving problems, and helping the company reach its goals. Most employers expect workers to be responsible, professional, and good at communicating with others. It can be a good environment for learning new skills and growing in your career. Exploring a few business classes, internships, or part-time jobs can help you learn if this type of work is a good fit for you.

Jeff’s Answer

I’ve read through quite a few good responses here that reflect many things I would say so I won’t reiterate those.

I would add, however, try that working for a large corporation also gives you an incredible amount of resources to obtain or update your business skills. Great educational resources are available in most large companies.

On the down side many large companies are slow to implement significant changes and react to markets. This can be a little frustrating when you want to get things done quickly.

Thank you for your question. I am glad to know that you have interest in corporates.
Below are my suggestions:
1. There are many careers related to corporates, eg trading, sales, accounting, human resources, marketing, finance, administration, etc. You can find out more online.
2. Find out more on these careers and determine what you have interest
3. Speak to someone who are working in these careers. Seek guidance from your mentor, school career counselor, your parents, etc
4. Shortlist 1-2 careers you would like to pursue
5. Explore the entry criteria of relevant subjects in colleges
Hope this helps! Good luck!
May Almighty God bless you!
