Vianne’s Answer

SFSU is a good option, particularly if you're interested in business. Their programs in management, finance, and marketing are strong and well-respected, thanks to their accreditation. Being in San Francisco offers many opportunities for internships and real-world experience, which is a big plus while you're studying.

The campus is diverse, and many students find it welcoming when they join clubs or activities. However, some say it feels like a commuter school, so making friends might require a bit more effort. Visiting the campus or talking to current students can help you decide if it's the right place for you.

In general, if you focus on your studies, seek hands-on experiences, and connect with others, SFSU can be a great place to grow both academically and personally. It's all about making the most of the opportunities and support available to you.

Joseph’s Answer

When considering a school like San Francisco State University (SFSU) for business, it's important to focus on how well it matches your career goals rather than just its ranking. The best school for you is the one that offers the faculty expertise and courses you need to achieve your career objectives after graduation.

If you're interested in a particular business field like E-Commerce, International Business, or Hospitality Management, see if SFSU has a specific program for it. Sometimes, a smaller school with a specialized program is more attractive to recruiters in that field than a top-ranked school with a general program.

Also, consider SFSU's location, which offers easy access to the San Francisco financial district and Silicon Valley. Being able to intern at a major company during the semester can be more impressive to employers than the school you attended.

Look at the courses SFSU offers. Do they include modern technology and data analysis tools used in today's industry? If the courses are up-to-date and the tuition is affordable, the return on investment might be better than at a more expensive private school.

In short, while employers care about your degree, they are more interested in your skills, internships, and projects. If SFSU provides the curriculum that helps you gain the skills needed for your dream job, it's a great choice.

Karin’s Answer

Hi Kailan,

The question is not so much if SFSU is a good school, but if it is a good school for you!

Check out the undergraduate programs and the concentrations they offer:

Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) with areas of concentration in accounting, business analytics, decision sciences, finance, information systems, international business, management, and marketing.
Bachelor of Science in Hospitality, Tourism and Event Management (BSHTEM)
Bachelor of Arts in Economics
Bachelor of Arts in Labor and Employment Studies

If any of these matches your professional goals and interests, check out the courses in the curriculum. Compare with other business school you might consider to get a feel for your preferences.

That would be the academic side of things. But your social life and the environments you thrive in are of course also important. You can get a lot of information from these sites:

https://bigfuture.collegeboard.org/
https://collegescorecard.ed.gov/
https://nces.ed.gov/collegenavigator/

If you think SFSU would be a good school for you, find out about admission requirements and enrollment. Make contact with the department and the admission office if you have questions. Since you live in San Francisco, it would also be easy for you to visit and take a campus tour to get a feel for the vibe of the school and talk to people.

Last, but not least, find out the cost of attendance and start to explore financial aid and scholarships.

I hope this helps! All the best to you!
