Guadalupe,
One way to start is to list the following on a piece of paper (ask a teacher or librarian for help along the way if needed):
1. Relevant soft job skills (e.g., good communication skills).
2. Any relevant technical skills (e.g., computer literacy).
3. Past job experience, if you have any. If you don’t, that’s okay—write a sentence or two explaining your job goals and why you are a motivated entry-level candidate.
4. List any school projects you have worked on, such as group projects, clubs, or organizations you are part of. Include what the project was, what tasks needed to be completed, what actions you took, and what the result was. Skip this step if you have not worked on any school projects.
5. Try to build out the format on your own first—this will help develop your resume-writing skills.
6. Type your rough draft resume into an AI tool such as ChatGPT or Google Gemini, then ask it to provide an entry-level resume format. The tool can give you a step-by-step foundation for improving your resume.
7. Ask a teacher or counselor to review your resume, then revise the format as needed.
8. Use Microsoft Word to type your resume. Resume templates are available in Word, choose one and make it unique.
Hope that helps!
