Will attending a 2-year Electrical program and earning an AOS degree help me apply and get into a local IBEW Electrical Union after school?

I am looking for advice from existing union members and electricians to see if this is a good path to help me get into the local union.

Braydon - I don't think you necessarily need to get a degree.
A lot of the IBEW unions have training programs. You start as an apprentice and work your way to journeyman. I would check with the various electrical companies in your area and the unions and get some direction from them.

Thank you comment icon Thank you Wayne! I've already spoken to the local union, they are not taking any applications for another year, then a year after that, taking a class in. I figured I should get a degree in the timeframe I wait. I didn't know anyone knew if it would help secure a spot. Thank you! Braydon
