Before committing to something like Vet school, I would recommend working at a clinic or volunteering. I discovered the veterinary technician route in high school and this was more ideal for me at the time due to the lower schooling requirements and specific job details. Look into all the options and research local clinics. If you’re passionate and resilient you’ll enjoy the work, but it’s very demanding physically and emotionally.

Fellow Animal lover here. While my expertise is limited with Vet medicine, my sister is a Vet Tech and was able to share some advice for you.
Volunteer at your local animal shelter or County Animal Services office. Often times, they are looking for students to fill part time jobs.
Make sure to do your research on schools that provide multiple courses in Vet medicine. Some schools might not offer hands on training because they don't have on campus animal stables. Some schools offer Vet tech certifications concurrently with your Bachelor's degree. Vet Tech is a great starting point in moving towards your Veterinarian goal.
