Zakari’s Answer
Hi, Karla
NICU nurses are registered nurses who specialize in caring for newborn babies who need critical medical attention. The NICU has different levels:
Level I handles healthy newborns, Level II handles moderately premature babies, and Level III/IV (the true NICU) handles the most critically ill and premature infants, sometimes born as early as 23–24 weeks. They care for
Premature babies (born early), newborns with serious illnesses, birth defects, heart conditions, breathing problems, low birth weight, or infections.

A NICU nurse is a registered nurse who works in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a special part of the hospital for newborns who are very sick or born too early. These nurses are not just regular baby nurses; they are experts in critical care for newborns.
They care for premature babies and those with breathing issues, infections, or other problems right after birth. NICU nursing is a specialized type of pediatric critical care. Most NICU nurses are RNs, and many get extra training or certifications in neonatal or critical care nursing because the babies need constant monitoring and detailed care.

Hi Karla,
NICU nurses are admired for their talent and ability to work and care for critically ill babies. They are compassionate and understand the bond between parent and child and use it to help those babies thrive. NICU nurses are the ones that have pictures of the babies that are now thriving and the parents still send the NICU nurse pictures. NICU nurses are ones that parents of those babies will always remember. NICU nurses are revered by other nurses because it really does take a special person/nurse to care for such fragile individuals.
