What should I do to embark my career in marine engineering after graduation?

I have just completed my degree in marine engineering, looking forward to start my career. I have been sending job applications across different ship companies but all I get is rejection or no response. If anyone has just joined or has been in the engine department your insights and advice would be of great help. Thank you
