Marketing is essential and it will give you access to people who will buy what you are selling. You have to have a strategy and if possible a marketing team. LinkedIn is a good tool but it takes time there's no overnight success and you should have a list of marketing strategies. Commercials reach a target audience and billboards reach lots of people. Magazines have advertising and the radio and news advertising is great if you can get on the radio and news it's a good chance to market your brand, Vistaprint has business cards, and car magnets. Remember your goal and your target group. Wish you all the best.

Marketing influences people because it connects with their needs, emotions, and decisions. As someone who studied Marketing Management and now teaches the subject at my alma mater, I've seen students realize that marketing is much more than advertising. The most effective campaigns succeed because they understand people and provide value, not just promote products.
My advice is to focus on understanding consumer behavior and developing empathy. The best marketers are those who listen, solve real problems, and build trust. These skills are valuable not only in marketing but in any career that involves working with people.

Marketing can have a huge impact on a brand because it shapes how people perceive and connect with it, not just how many ads they see. The most successful brands usually understand their audience and create messaging that feels relevant, consistent, and authentic. Advertising gets attention, but things like trust, customer experience, and a strong brand identity are what often turn that attention into long-term success.

Marketing can influence a brand very strongly, but it doesn’t create success through advertising alone.
A common mistake is treating marketing as “running ads.” Advertising is only one part of the system.
Strong marketing starts with understanding the market and audience, then building the right positioning, value proposition, messaging, offer, and customer experience. Advertising then helps amplify that system and bring the right people into it.
That’s why two businesses can spend the same amount on ads and get completely different results.
For example:
Weak system:
Good ad → people click → unclear offer → weak landing page → poor experience → no conversion.
Strong system:
Right audience → clear positioning → relevant message → compelling offer → effective acquisition → good customer experience → retention → referrals.
Marketing can therefore influence almost every stage of a brand’s growth:
Awareness → Consideration → Conversion → Retention → Loyalty → Advocacy
If a company only focuses on advertising, it may generate attention without generating demand, trust, or long-term customers.
So I’d look at marketing as a business growth system, not just promotion.
A useful framework is:
Market → Audience → Positioning → Offer → Acquisition → Conversion → Retention → Growth
Advertising sits mainly inside Acquisition. It can amplify a great business and also amplify a bad one—which is why simply increasing the ad budget doesn’t necessarily increase success.

Hi Chloe,
Your question highlights why marketing is so influential. It not only promotes products but also shapes how people feel about a brand, which often leads to success.
How Marketing Affects People:
Storytelling: Marketing tells stories that connect with people's emotions and values. A good campaign makes people feel the brand or product is part of their life.
Visibility: Being present on social media, TV, and online ads keeps a brand in people's minds.
Trust & Credibility: When marketing shows quality and reliability, it builds trust. People buy from brands they believe in.
How Marketing Helps Brand Success:
Audience Connection: Brands that understand their audience's interests and needs create campaigns that resonate.
Differentiation: Marketing shows what makes a brand unique, helping it stand out from competitors.
Consistency: A clear message across all channels builds recognition and loyalty.
Beyond Ads: Success is more than just advertising. It includes customer service, product quality, and keeping promises.
Tip for You: Notice which ads catch your eye and why. Is it the message, visuals, or feelings they evoke? Marketing is about shaping perception and building relationships, not just selling.
Your curiosity is great and will help you learn how businesses grow and succeed.
Wishing you lots of inspiration as you explore marketing.
