That's great question Anirudh! I work for a company called Salesforce. Salesforce started Salesforce foundation the day they started the company. As part of this we have a 1:1:1 model which is we donate 1% of our product, 1% of our Revenue and 1% of our employee time back to community.
They create lot of volunteering opportunities for us to go work for non-profit orgs and do volunteering activities. We also can donate money and Salesforce matches up to $2000. So I make use of these opportunities and volunteer as much as I can and when I can.
Through this process , I also learned that there are tons of opportunities our there to give back like Helping Hands where you can volunteer. You can also make this a family activity. I took my children with me to Glide memorial and we served food to homeless people for 3 hours and that was a great way for me to spend time with my kids, introduce them to volunteering and build great values within my family.
I am answering these questions through such avenue and this is another way I use my career learnings to help others who are trying to build their career!
I hope this helps.
