Abhishek’s Answer

For sure there are multiple opportunities in computer science but if you want to get involved in something big in my opinion you one of the following options:

  1. Identify some issues people are facing and come up with some solution which you can implement using technology, this will give you a chance to build something from scratch and in long run can compensate you handsomely.
  2. Choose a field which is totally unexplored and do some research under proper guidance.
  3. Choose any known field in Computer science and explore it inside out, this will give you an opportunity to grow in that field.

Vishnu Maya’s Answer

A computer Engineering Graduate has a plethora of career options after college. A few areas I find exciting is :

  • AI/ML
  • Data Science
  • Networks

All the above areas have a scope for advanced computer engineering career. You could become an Architect for any of the above fields, with sufficient years of experience. If you have a higher degree, then working in futuristic research also is an exciting option.

Vishnu Maya recommends the following next steps:

Identify what you Long term goal is, in terms of an advanced Computer engg career, and then see what is the entry level job that is the starting point to get there.
Build a road map for the entry job to final goal journey. It is key to identify the area you want to specialise in.

Anwesha’s Answer

A bachelors degree in computer engineering is a stepping stone in the field of technology. You could always pursue research careers that are advanced CS topics, like data sciences, theoretical computer science, applied computer sciences like neural networks, NLP, deep learning, software engineering or network engineering/system administration courses. Likewise, for jobs as well, most of these options would require good programming skills and the appetite to learn new technology as you go forth.
