Toral’s Answer

To answer shortly you do not, if you do wish to be an officer then you would though. I highly recommend looking up a recruitment office near you in your junior year of high school and scheduling some time to sit down with a recruiter. I personally really loved the short time I spent in the Navy and I got so much information by sitting down and talking with a recruiter to get next steps and planning.

No, but if it doesn't hurt. More training and education can open up better jobs and opportunities.

Kellee’s Answer

Hi Daniel! It's great you are considering serving our country as a Marine.

You do not have to go to college to be a marine. However, the paths and pay tend to differ between having a college degree or not. This link should be helpful to you: https://www.federalpay.org/military/marine-corps/ranks . Pay grades beginning with "E" are for enlisted, which primarily for those without college degrees. Pay grades beginning with "O" are for officers who join after college, including coming from military academies. I'm not familiar with Warrant Officers, but looking at the pay in general, some type of post-high school education may be necessary.

Your best bet is to check out the nearest Marine recruiting facility or see if there is anything online that will give you information on the criteria for various roles. My brother was career Army, enlisted, so I'm more familiar with that branch of the military. However, you can't go wrong serving your country in any branch. I salute you! All the best.

Kellee recommends the following next steps:

find a marine recruiting facility near you
check with your high school counselor about careers in the military
