Anna’s Answer

Legally, yes at least in the United States. To practice architecture (seal drawings,) you must attend an accredited architectural school and go through an internship. Here is a website for some reference https://www.ncarb.org/become-architect. Each state has their own requirements, but most of them are pretty similar.

Roxanne’s Answer

I’m a rare exception. You do not HAVE to go to architecture school, though it makes it a lot easier for a direct path to getting an architect’s license.

I graduated with a degree in finance, worked odd jobs around the globe then back in the states got a job as an interior designer for a millwork company, we used a basic 3D software for the millwork layout. I then got a contract to make the 3D models and construction documents using Revit- I figured it out on the job. I got better and better contracts at different architecture firms and eventually got hired because I could draw documents faster than anyone and 3D model anything, and had learned tons of construction details along the way. In lots of states there’s just a certain amount of years you have to work under an architect to be able to take the tests to become a licensed architect. So you’ll have to check the state you want to work in. Let me know if you have questions!

Gaurav’s Answer

Yes Indeed....like they say every master was once a beginner similarly every architect needs to be properly trained, well groomed and should always be in touch with the latest technology stack.

Proper training with real time experience makes good architect.
