MIG Welding is more common so it likely that hourly wage will be close to if not $15/hour. TIG Welding is more complex and as such commands a higher hourly wage. I would suggest looking at the welding jobs in your area to see what the demand is like for both MIG and TIG welding.

Any construction field position can offer a starting salary of $15/hour. Welders, pipe-fitters, plumbers, electricians, sheet metal workers and building controls technicians can all provide starting salaries of $15/hour with an upside of over $30/hour plus benefits. Manufacturers also offering welding opportunities if that's your focus. I'd suggest you research your local community for Mechanical Contractors as a start. Many will bring you in as an apprentice and teach you the trade (welding in this case). You can also look for manufacturers in the area who specialize in building more complex assemblies where welding is used. Manufacturers tend to use robotic welders so you could take robotics in school.
