Heather’s Answer

Resume. Spend time building that resume, focusing on relevant experiences and traits that are applicable to the career. Include work experience, schooling, and also extra curriculars such as community/volunteer participation.

Hanna’s Answer

Hi Leslie, try to differentiate yourself from other job seekers by adding some training or courses to your CV (e.g. start learning another language or take a course in public speaking or anything else that may be relevant to what you want to pursue). At the beginning of your career, make sure you list all types of internships and work experiences and school projects you've done, even if they are not directly relevant to the job you are applying for. And add a brief summary of the main skills you improved through those experiences (responsibility, time management, working autonomously, communicating with strangers etc.) And then if you are applying for a specific job, tailor your application letter to the advert and try to give concrete examples for the different skills they are listing, e.g. for teamwork skills you can mention that you were part of the high school basketball team or drama group. Good luck!
