Dawn’s Answer

My job duties are very varied and high variety. No two days are the same. I help students find out what they are good at as well as what they want to do as a career. I help to create, improve, and review students' resumes to improve their chances of getting an interview. I also assist students in building interview skills to do their best in interviews and show them how to research companies in preparation of an interview.

"Good" pay means different things to different people. Individuals tend to do better and make more money in jobs they really love doing. Is $50,000-60,000 a year adequate for you? Most jobs with a Bachelor's degree fall in this category.

Scott’s Answer

My job is very interesting. As the Director of Global Security for a pharmaceutical company, no day is the same. I have regular long term objectives and goals around projects such as designing physical security systems to protect our people and assets, but then I my day could get off on a tangent dealing with security issues that impact the company or employees. Being a global company we have a presences in many different countries, so there is a very broad range of issues depending on the region. This keeps my job fun and interesting.

Scott recommends the following next steps:

Be adaptable. Many careers and jobs could be very dynamic, so be prepared in your careers to be able to be adaptable.

Yonggang’s Answer

A typical day for me starts with browsing and answering emails from my colleagues that I can answer in a few minutes. Then I will make a mental list and start on more urgent or important topics , followed by periodical email checks.  Substantively, I spend a fair amount of time advising on contracts, as well as on patents.  The patent work is more interesting from a technology perspective. There are other work as well, such as training my colleagues on IP topics, and advising on trademark and other intellectual property topics.  Everyday is a little different as there are always new topics and challenges, so there is never a boring day.
