There are many differerent settings in which to practice occupational therapy. It is a discipline that focuses on restoration of function in people who are unable to complete day to day activities due to disability, illness or injury. OT's work in schools, hospitals, clinics, home care, and private practice. OT's can specialize in areas of practice such as burns, psychiatry, orthopedics, geriatrics, pediatrics, etc. Some OT's are specialists in home modification, making a home environment accessible for people with disabilities. Before applying to OT school, its best to find some OTs who will let you shadow them for a day. You can start with the human resources department in a setting that interests you. OT admissions officers also love applicants who have done vomunteer work with people who have disabilities. It shows them that you are devoted to helping people. Good luck!

I am understanding the question as you asking how to become an occupational Therapist. If I'm wrong I apologize. The best way to go about becoming an OT is to go to a 4 year college and get a BS in a science or health related subject unless the school has a OT BS. The reason why you want to go that route is that the prerequisites that the masters program will be requiring will most likely be fulfilled by classes you'd have to take anyways for the science or health related BS. Around the second or third year start looking into master programs in your area or the area you want to go and check to see what their prerequisites are such as classes, volunteer hours, GRE score etc. Work hard get good grades especially in the classes that matter. Finish all prerequisites before the deadlines, apply, take the GRE, and get into a good masters program. Complete the masters program, they will guide you very well. Do your internships, that the program will help you find. Become an OT.
