This is an amazing and creative profession! Once you complete school and get licensed, you can decide what kind of a shop you want to work in, full service spa or more of a walk in hair cuts and services kind of shop. There are many many options for a licensed hairdresser! Hair, skin, nails, cuts, colors, highlights, makeup, selling products, etc.
I suggest you contact the school of your choice and ask for a tour. That way you can see the classrooms, feel the atmosphere and get an idea of what school will be like for you. 😀
Also, if you have any friends or family who own shops, ask to job shadow for a few days. "Job shadowing" allows you to follow a hairdresser around during his/her work day, that will be the most realistic experience for you.
Good luck!

Hi Becca,
Great career choice. Try to find a well-known hairstylist school and at the same time start creating your client list. What I love about a hairstylist is that you make your own hours and you have the liquid cash. The next advantage you will have your clients will spread your name around. For example I bring clients for my hairstylist just by people looking at my hair and asking me "who did your hair"
Good luck to you in such charismatic career.
