RImike (Yema)’s Answer

Hi Shawn,

I have noticed that there is a lot of demand in the areas of Data Analytics and Cloud Computing as well as Open Source.
The nice thing is that as a Computer Engineer, you can span several areas with a combination of skills and with a willingness to continue learning, you can always move from one area to another as you advance through your career.

Thanks
Yema

Even if you choose not to stay in software engineering for your entire career, it is an excellent way to start out. In my experience, being a software developer teaches you how to think differently. It shows you how to break down complex problems and apply creative solutions. This has helped me tremendously in my career and I would recommend software development to anyone who is somewhat technically inclined. Today, I work in a sales position, but I started as a software developer.
