What is the likelihood of finding an animation job after college?

Does the art college you go to make all the difference? I know one college could strengthen your portfolio by having more resources and better connections to companies. But is it worth the huge investment if you could go to a cheaper place, and use your own talents and determination to get a good job? Are there even many animation openings still out there? #college #career #job #animation

Wael’s Answer

I checked a couple of websites for the projected growth of animators need. The first one gave me a 6% which is about average. Honestly, it did not make any sense to me because the entertainment industry is more reliant on animation than ever. I checked another website and I am going to leave you with it.

Kevin’s Answer

Hello Adenike,
First of all college is not a necessity for getting into the animation field. I will say though it can be a tremendous help in stepping in the right direction. You have to be really careful in finding a college for art since there are a plethora of them out there most of which are just trying to get your money. College will help with a regular discipline of working and building up skill while exploring other options in the art field you might want to pursue more. College is also a great tool for helping you gain network connections which can possibly help find you a job down the road.
The animation industry can be a little rocky and can be extremely hard but also very rewarding. If youre passionate enough and a hard worker then you can make it.
Best of luck.

Ken’s Answer

Hi!

Animation can be a fun and lucrative field! The most important thing is the talent that you develop and what you learn in school and the grades that you achieve. These are more important the school that you have attended. If one attends what one might consider a more important school but gets poor grades and learns little one will not succeed in the real world. Who you show you are and what you achieve will always stand out above all!!
