How much money would it cost to become a Horse Trainer?

I'm in 8th grade. I have a class called career and technology. My teacher is having us do a project and we are asking questions about what we would like to do when we are older. #horses #horses trainer

I know a lot of people who train horses, and they find it really rewarding, though it's hard work. Becoming a horse trainer can cost different amounts, depending on how you choose to learn. You can go to a university that offers equine studies, or you can learn by working with an experienced trainer, where you help out in exchange for training and education. Many of my friends did both—they started with formal education and then did an apprenticeship. Equine studies is a specialized field, so you'll need to look online to find schools that offer it. Keep in mind that private colleges usually cost more than public ones. Best of luck!

According to https://agexplorer.com/career/horse-trainer-instructor#:~:text=Education%2FTraining%20Required%3A,more%20familiar%20with%20training%20horses. an associate degree in equine science or equine studies would help you get that job.

MSU has several https://www.canr.msu.edu/ans/overview/species/equine-programs options but is more expensive @ $25,000/y. If you can find a community college that cost will likely be $5,000-10,000.

I suspect that many trainers have gotten that job by working with horses and learning on the job. You'd need to get an entry level job such as a ranch hand to get your foot in the door. This would be the lowest cost option but may take longer.
