How much land do you need if you are a horse trainer?

I'm in 8th grade. I have a class called career and technology. My teacher is having us do a project to ask questions about what we would want to do when we are older. #career #horse trainers

Caryn’s Answer

Hello! I came across your question, and although I am not a horse trainer I have a friend who used to do this as a career. One thing to keep in mind, horse trainers do not always have to own their own property. My friend traveled up and down the east coast training other people's horses and she would stay at their properties while she did it and also bring her own horse with her. It gave her the opportunity to travel and also get a lot of experience. She would spend winters in Florida and then went up to the northeast when the weather was better. Hope that helps!

Ideally, horses need 1 acre for grazing. However for training purposes, you’ll need an arena or 60’ (minimum) round pen with good footing.
