What are good courses to take in high school that would be beneficial for an Architectural degree in college?

I want to be an Architect, however I wasn't aware that I wanted to do this up until my senior year and so I want other people to find a way to be prepared while there's still time in high school to choose classes. #architecture

Makes sure you absolutely want to be an architect. Architecture requires more time than any other major and it's similar after you graduate as well. If you're interested try taking math classes, it'll help for when you have your structures classes. Also if your school offers engineering classes take those, if you can teach yourself AutoCAD, Revit and rendering programs you'll be in a better place, photoshop as well.

Any opportunities to introduce yourself to tools - CAD, Photoshop, etc. is great, but not required. I took a summer class at a design institute before starting my undergraduate architecture program. But this is not a requirement to be successful. Sit with a sketchbook in a busy space - indoors or outdoors and watch how people move through out the space - make notes, draw a sketch, what would you change with the space if you were to design it? So much of good design is about understanding how people occupy and use space and developing your ability to observe and understand the needs for the space is huge! If you can connect with someone in the field, ask if you can shadow them for the day and see what working in the field looks like!
