How hard is it to find an engineering job after college?

I am majoring in mechanical engineering and I plan on going to an engineering college. I am wondering if mechanical engineering jobs are hard to achieve after college, or if it depends on the college you go to. #mechanical-engineering

Focus your efforts in engineering college to do well in grades, join & be active in a professional society and look for engineering internship opportunities while in school. If you can check all three of these categories, I think you will be well suited to attain employment after college. Also, work on polishing up on your interview skills by reviewing typical interview questions and thinking about how your would answer them. For these types of questions, remember to think of your answers in context of what your potential employer will be looking for. This includes hiring folks who will exhibit values such as great teamwork, show respect for fellow employees and customers, strive to do a great job, etc.... Reference your past experience in answering these. Your past actions/behaviors, in my opinion, are the best indicators for your potential employer of how you will act/perform should you be hired.

Remember, this is much competition for all positions. Be persistent and keep applying and interviewing and don't get discouraged!!! Think of baseball....the more at-bats you take, the greater the chance is that you'll hit a home-run and land a position! Also, the more interviews you do, the more you can hone your interviewing skills.

Good Luck!

Be proactive. I can't stress it enough. Opportunities are out there, but they aren't going to just come to you - you have to work towards them.
If you have older siblings, ask them to just search through their LinkedIn connections for anyone that is an "engineer". They don't have to be directly related to your discipline... chances are that they have friends or are at least know some people in different fields, as well.
