Hi Hailey,

The challenges of teaching include both the emotional/intellectual side of the profession. I have experience as a teacher in K-2, so on an emotional level it could be hard to exhibit patience at all times of the day while balancing the needs of many small children. In order to be a source of positivity and a role model for students, teachers must have a classroom management plan and be committed to demonstrating a warm but strict presence at all times of day. Carefully planning for and fostering a great classroom culture is the most important part of the job for an elementary teacher!

Additionally, teaching presents unique challenges when it comes to learning how to address student misconceptions or how to adjust curriculum in the moment to help a student reach the objective. For example, you may plan a lesson and materials expecting students to do one thing, but when the lesson comes there may be varied levels of understanding that a teacher didn't see coming. The best teachers can anticipate adjustments that might need to be made in the moment, and plan ahead for it. As a new teacher, however, I would often feel stuck or frustrated when my students did not grasp the material right away. Although this is a great challenge, figuring our how to differentiate material for students can also be the most rewarding part of the job.

I hope this was helpful!

Janavi’s Answer

Hi Hailey!
I am a college student pursuing engineering and as a side hobby I like teaching, so the challenges I feel would be to keep the class engaging and not losing interest. But cannot be totally lenient with students, not too strict also. I feel the students must be aligned to be disciplined but teaching a certain topic should be a quick grasp for them and fun learning, I like teaching Math personally but I think pen board technique is the best technique to teach. These would be some challenges from my side, anyways we can easily overcome them, just a little patience.
All the very best.

Kikanza’s Answer

Teaching is a noble pursuit and one of the most important jobs in society. No matter what one does they cannot do it or become it without teachers. The irony is that teachers are not paid well nor are they held in high esteem in the United States.

The first challenge is to determine what you want to teach and then, whether you want to teach children or adults. Elementary. Secondary. Community college. University. Businesses. All are environments for teaching.

General education. Specific subjects. Theory. Practical skills. Job skills. Every where you look there are people to teach.
