Vernon’s Answer

Probably not. The reason is that most of your problems will arise with the clients of the animals you treat. You will be blamed for everything that goes wrong or costs too much. I suggest working as an intern with a local vet and get a feel for the business before committing to a VERY difficult stretch of college and advanced schooling.

This does not rule out being a veterinarian's technical assistant.

I'm not a vet, but my advice to you would be to volunteer at an animal shelter and see how you like it. Ask as many questions as you can to the vets that are there and get their perspective on what you need to be successful on the job. I think you will find out that way if being shy would be a hindrance to the skills required for this career path.

This is a good way for you to experience the work environment without spending a lot of resources pursuing this career path if you are not sure. It also gives you a chance to help animals in need.

All the best!
