An attorney should expect debate to be part of their job. As with anything in life, you should prepare your argument well and be mindful of your opponent's stance.

Debate is healthy and its expected as a lawyer. If you're a trial attorney you are going to be debating with opposing counsel when presenting your arguments to a judge. You just have to agree to disagree and be respectful when advocating on behalf of your client.
