Hi Nikki,

I love the answer above, but first and foremost - you have to love children. That is the biggest benefit - that you can bring your skills and talents to help a child learn and grow. I've taught long enough to see my students become adults and thank me for what they learned in my classroom. Yes, you get great time off with vacations! But, the biggest benefit, for me, is giving back and lifting up someone else.

Avianne’s Answer

-Seeing students learn and grow because of your instruction
-Getting summers off if you work in a typically-ran 9-month school system
-Field trips!
-Getting to be creative in the classroom (decorating and customizing your space)
-having close relationships with co-workers and administration

There are many more! Hopefully this list is a good starting point however.

I agree with the responses. The reward is to see how they learn and use the help you provide to improve not only as learners, but also as people.

Having the summer off is a great benefit, and it's not just the summer, teachers have a lot of days off.

If you do your job well, you'll learn with your students, you'll learn new things every day and you'll never fossilize as a professional.
