Hi Zephaniah,

Working in this industry is great, I decided to work as an programmer, cause you have a lot of places to work, a programmer will always be required in any industry, is very well paid too, and something that really enjoy is that you never stop knowing new things, also one of my favourites things is that what really you learned you applied to the job, but the more you work the more you learn, I mean is not a routine job, other computer careers related are :
Big data engineer.
Applications architect.
Web developer.
Database administrator.
Computer hardware engineer.
Computer software engineer.
Data security analyst.
Information systems security manager.

Dzmitry’s Answer

Zephaniah, having 5 years of experience in programming while being 17 y.o. you definitely can choose any area you want. You mentioned game development and website development, which may look attractive from the outside of the process, but most programming is the same from the inside. So you may mainly focus on choosing the company you like and the technology you want to use and you will find that all developers create nice stuff, not only game dev ones.

Answering your questions:
Why did you decide to work in this industry?
- Because It provides nice opportunities when it comes to relocation (in any country in the entire world you would need to know English + your tech stack). So when I was in need to relocate to another country, that was the moment to enter this industry.
What is your favorite thing about your job?
- It develops fast, so you will face new challenges every time. So you don't do the same thing forever even working at the same company for a long time.
- You have the possibility to move between countries, work remotely, or work in an international corporation. Almost no limits. Many countries even create a special visa type for digital nomads (!).
What other computer-related careers would you pursue if you weren't in this position?
- Now I work as a software developer. But if I weren't, I would like to try DevOps.
