Eric’s Answer

JJ, Great question, though a loaded one a very insightful one at that.

Architecture is:
1. First the root word of Architecture is "Architect" which from mid 16th century: from Latin architectura, from architectus: Architect meaning Chief Builder. Then it was a Craft which turned into the word Craftsman.
2. It is the art or practice of designing and constructing buildings and the complex or carefully designed structure of something.
3. There are 3 main types of Architecture: A. Environmental; B. Interior & C. Landscape. And within that there are 7 different types.

Hope this helps answer your question.

Thanks,

Hi there,

Below is a good definition of architecture, there's also lots of resources if you follow the link below for additional information.

Architecture is the study and practice of designing the buildings,
communities, structures, and other elements that shape the
built environment. It brings together and balances artistic
sensibility and scientific methodology. The term “architecture”
may also refer to the constructed elements of an environment.
Architecture is all around us, and architects have a big impact
on our lives

Hi JJ!

The current answers you have received give a pretty good idea of what "architecture" is in the context of buildings. I noticed you also tagged your question with "Javascript" which leads me to believe you are interested in architecture as it pertains to Computer Science or Information Technology.

It's an important to know there are several forms of "architecture" in Information Technology; each with their own intricacies and requirements from a skill-set point of view. Some of the most common forms of architecture in I.T. are:

- Software Architecture: This involves the high-level structure of a software system, including the components, modules, and data structures used, as well as the interactions and relationships between these elements.

- Network Architecture: This defines the design and structure of a computer network, including the hardware, software, and protocols used to connect devices and transmit data.

- Database Architecture: This refers to the design and organization of a database, including the data structures and relationships used to store data.

- Security Architecture: This involves the design and implementation of security measures to protect an organization's information and systems, including firewalls, access controls, and encryption.

- Enterprise Architecture: This refers to the high-level view of an organization's structure, including its processes, information systems, and technology.

- Cloud Architecture: This involves the design and deployment of applications and services in a cloud computing environment, including the management of data, compute, and storage resources.

- DevOps Architecture: This involves the design and deployment of software in a continuous delivery and integration model, including the use of automation and collaboration tools to streamline the development process.

Over the last 22 years, I have had the pleasure and great fortune of working in many of these different specialties and use the skills I have learned along the way, almost daily. If you love to learn, and love working with different technologies, then one or more of these areas of focus could be a great fit! :)

Hi JJ. Architecture is the art of designing and constructing buildings. It involves planning, designing, and constructing structures, such as houses, office buildings, churches, factories, and bridges. Architecture is a creative process that combines both aesthetic and practical considerations.

Architecture is a big and complicated field that requires a lot of skill and knowledge. Architects need to know a lot about engineering, math, physics, and art, as well as working with different materials like wood, steel, concrete, and glass. They also have to be able to work with people from different backgrounds, including clients, contractors, and other professionals.

Architecture is a field that requires a lot of creative thinking and problem-solving skills. Architects need to be able to come up with innovative solutions to difficult problems, and also work within a budget and comply with building codes and regulations.

Architecture is a profession that has been around for many years and has changed over time. Today, architects use modern technology and materials to create structures that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Architecture is an ever-changing field that is constantly changing and adapting to the needs of society.
